The house is located in the coveted Valle d'Itria, a land of rolling hills, olive groves, vineyards and dark red soil surrounded by ancient dry stone walls. At the four cardinal points are the charming white-painted hilltop towns of Ostuni, Ceglie Messapica, Cisternino and Martina Franca, each with its own style and character. This part of Puglia can plausibly lay claim to the best food in Italy. There are six Michelin-starred restaurants within a 30-minute drive, and these are arguably not the best in the area. There is a choice of beaches on the Adriatic and Ionian coasts, one about 20 minutes away, the others about 30 to 40 minutes away. Neither coastline is dotted with hotels, and you won't find sardine rows of sunbeds like in other parts of Italy. Instead, you'll enjoy restaurants and bars on the beach, sand dunes and the clearest water in the country. For the more adventurous, Lecce is a magnificent baroque city that has been dubbed the 'Florence of the South'. Egnazia is an important archaeological site from Roman times and earlier, and you can also marvel at exquisite medieval cathedrals and castles from the Crusader era along the coast.

You reach the villa by a private drive through olive groves and meadows. Perched on a hill, the house offers sweeping views over the olive-covered landscape and the gentle breeze that softens the summer sun. Like an oasis surrounded by exotic gardens, the pool is like a lake that almost reaches the doors of the villa. The house has been designed for outdoor living, with an outdoor kitchen, barbecue, dining area, hammocks, sunbeds and a seating area filled with jasmine and other fragrant flowers. With one of the most impressive cactus gardens, it is hard to imagine not experiencing a holiday in style.

Through the glass doors you enter a large, central living, dining and kitchen area under a traditional barrel vaulted stone ceiling in the style of a typical "lamia" house of the region. To the left is a kitchen fitted with the best German WMF equipment and a fabulous glass-topped dining table. In the centre is a brick fireplace and to the right of the living area is a large brick living room landscape, TV with all Sky channels and an indoor/outdoor music system. All three bedrooms are furnished with Indian fabrics and Italian artwork, with elegant bathrooms, one with a unique Roman style stone bath.
