Doucy, also known as Doucy-Combelouvière, is a small ski resort village located in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. It sits at about 1,250 meters above sea level and forms part of the Valmorel ski area (Le Grand Domaine), connecting to larger resorts like Saint-François-Longchamp and Valmorel.
History: Originally a quiet farming village, Doucy has retained its traditional charm while evolving into a modest family-friendly ski destination. It saw development as a ski resort in the 20th century, especially as tourism in the Alps grew after WWII.
It’s known for its authentic Savoyard atmosphere — rustic chalets, scenic views of the Tarentaise Valley, and a more relaxed pace than some of the big-name resorts.
Typical Food
Doucy offers classic Savoyard cuisine, deeply rooted in mountain traditions:
Fondue Savoyarde – Melted cheeses (Beaufort, Comté, Emmental) with white wine, eaten with bread.
Raclette – Semi-hard cheese melted and scraped onto potatoes, cured meats, and pickles.
Tartiflette – A baked dish of potatoes, reblochon cheese, lardons, and onions.
Diots de Savoie – Local pork sausages often cooked in white wine.
Croûte Savoyarde – Bread baked with cheese, cream, and wine.
Desserts: Tarte aux myrtilles (blueberry tart), and local honey or génépi liqueur for something sweet.
