Founded in the 10th century by the Count of Ventimiglia (Italy), Roquebrune was originally a fortified village designed to defend against Saracen invasions.

It became part of Monaco in 1355 when it was placed under the protection of the Grimaldi family.

In the 19th century, the area experienced a boom thanks to the popularity of the French Riviera among European aristocrats and artists.

It joined France permanently in 1861 after a plebiscite, along with Menton.

The Château de Roquebrune, a 10th-century medieval castle, is one of the oldest feudal castles in France and a key landmark.

Description
Divided into three main areas:

The Old Village (perched on a hilltop, medieval and picturesque)

Cap Martin (a cape with luxurious villas, beaches, and pine forests)

Carnolès (a more modern residential and commercial area)

Known for its seaside promenade, historic olive trees, and panoramic views of the Mediterranean and Monaco.

Famous for its architectural landmarks, including the E-1027 villa designed by Irish architect Eileen Gray (and later modified by Le Corbusier).
