Horní Mísecky is a beautiful, high-altitude village and recreational center nestled in the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains) in the Czech Republic. It is particularly known as a gateway for mountain sports and is part of the larger Špindleruv Mlýn ski resort area.

History and Description
Foundation and Early History: Horní Mísecky was established in 1642 as a settlement for loggers and miners. The first hut (bouda) was built in the same year.

Mining: In the first half of the 20th century, mineral exploration took place in the area, leaving behind some tailings heaps, but also leading to the construction of accommodation facilities.

Modern Purpose: Today, it is an important, picturesque, and peaceful recreational and tourist center. It is the highest-situated settlement in the Czech Krkonoše mountains, sitting at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters above sea level on the southern slopes of Medvedín mountain. It is a part of the municipality of Vítkovice.

Accessibility: A significant historical feature is the Masarykova Road (Horská silnice prezidenta Osvoboditele T. G. Masaryka), which was built between 1931–1936. The village is also connected to Špindleruv Mlýn via a chairlift.

Typical Foods (Czech Mountain Cuisine)
The food available in Horní Mísecky's mountain chalets (boudy) and restaurants is typical of hearty, traditional Czech cuisine, which is perfect for refueling after a day in the mountains. Key dishes include:

Main Courses
Svícková na smetane: Marinated beef sirloin in a rich, creamy vegetable sauce (made from root vegetables), served with bread dumplings (knedlíky), a dollop of cranberry sauce, and whipped cream.

Vepro knedlo zelo: Roast pork with sauerkraut (braised cabbage) and different types of dumplings (often both bread and potato).

Guláš (Goulash): A thick, rich meat stew (usually beef or venison/game in mountain areas) heavily seasoned with paprika, often served with knedlíky or fresh bread.

Smažený sýr: A popular "fast-food" type dish of breaded and deep-fried cheese (usually Edam), served with french fries and tartar sauce.

Rízek: Czech version of schnitzel, a thin, breaded, and pan-fried slice of pork or chicken, often served with potato salad.

Game Meat: Due to the mountain environment, venison, wild boar, or duck/goose are common, especially in autumn and winter.

Soups and Appetizers
Bramboracka: A hearty potato soup with vegetables and mushrooms, seasoned with spices.

Cesnecka: A strong garlic soup, often served with croutons and a raw egg yolk.

Kulajda: A creamy mushroom soup with potatoes, dill, and a poached egg.

Desserts and Sweet Meals
Ovocné knedlíky: Fruit dumplings (a main meal in Czech culture, not just dessert), stuffed with seasonal fruits like strawberries, blueberries, or apricots, topped with melted butter, powdered sugar, and quark cheese or poppy seeds.

Palacinky: Thin, rolled crêpes filled with jam, chocolate, or fruit.

Nature, Shops, and Festivals
Nature: Horní Mísecky is situated in the Krkonoše National Park, Czechia's highest mountain range. Visitors are surrounded by lush forests, mountain meadows, and alpine scenery. The natural attractions are the very essence of the location, including the access to the Source of the Elbe and the Pancavský Waterfall. The air is clean, and the environment is highly protected.

Shops and Services: The village is a small mountain center, so shopping is focused on tourist essentials:

Ski and Snowboard Rental shops (including cross-country equipment).

GOPASS Ticket Offices for ski passes.

Festivals: While the immediate village is small, the general area, particularly the nearby resort town of Špindleruv Mlýn, hosts cultural events, traditional folk festivals, and markets throughout the summer and winter seasons.
