Places to visit:
Knossos: which is located in the northern part of Crete. It is the largest in Crete and one of the most famous excavations from ancient times. You have to spend one day looking at Knossos, as it is a big area. Opening hours 8-19. Prices 15 Euro per adult (2018 prices)
The Abbey of Arkadi: Located at Rethymnon, a peaceful place, this monastery is the most significant in Crete (14th century). It is located 25 km from Rethumnon. Opening hours 8-19 (depending on the season). Price 3 Euro
Samaria Gorge: A great place to hike, it is 17 km long. Here is a great view. During the summer, 4,000 people walk through the gorge daily.
Agios Nikolaos: is a port town located at the Mirabello bay. Also visit the ancient church of the 11th century, which is one of the oldest churches in Greece
Palm beach in Vai: located in eastern Crete, and is one of the largest natural areas in Europe with palm trees
Archaeological Museum of Iralio: which is one of the most significant museums in Greece and, apart from Athens, has the most of ancient times. Price 10 Euro (2018 prices)
Lefka Oriental white mountains: the largest mountain massif in Crete. The highest point is 2,454 meters. Note: If you want to wander on the mountain you must be experienced mountain hikers as the weather can change quickly
